David Gomes, A Wanted Man!
Learning to say "Yes" and lean into the awkward moments are traits highly sought after by this Jedi teacher. With his teaching life situated in three camps- MS Acting, 7th Grade Tech Rotation, and US Digital Simulations, David Gomes' life is permanently camped in the arts and technology disciplines. It was with ease and eagerness we spoke about the EC3 Design Center. Code Libraries, 3-D Printing, Microbits, Python, Robotics, Tinkercad, and Thingiverse were all mentioned within the first 5 minutes of our discussion. From having students build cases for their microbits (a type of micro-controller) with the 3D printer to his hope for a good 3D Scanner, Gomes is always thinking about new ways for the students to creatively use tech.
His ideas for using the green screen in his acting class, and an audio booth for Reader's Theater prompted much discussion about sound and movement experimentation. He is also excited for the wood-working tools for Stagecraft! Seriously, Gomes might set up a cot once we have the tools in there and make a guitar... or better yet create a guitar-making activity for students. From playing to performing this new space is in Gomes' wheelhouse, and our students will benefit from his enthusiasm!
