Ann on Tie Dye Day, Great Tights!
Math games, puzzles, design, sewing.... Math Club! Yes to Math! Ann and I had the chance to chat about the ways in which students could be creative with their math skills. Ann has run a MS activity called Math by Design for many years where students stitch curves and create complex three dimensional paper forms. We brainstormed about Chess club making their own 3-D printed chess pieces, and imagined designing and creating compasses to print as well. There was even mention of spheres for spherical trigonometry models, although not for the middle schoolers.
Ann also has a wealth of knowledge about woodworking, the daughter of a Master Woodworker and teacher, she has grown up building with her dad. Her father's wood shop is filled with over 38 years of tools and projects that Ann has grown up with. Ann looks forward to fostering connections with other schools and people in our community who can help us to get our wood shop in the EC3 center up and running. Thanks Ann!
